BOOK OF RUTH
Book of Ruth BOOK OF RUTH — Sunday Mornings
The book of Ruth shows some of the unique laws practiced at that time (e.g., Law of Gleaning, Leveret Marriage, Law of Redemption). Some of these practices are not only important to understanding the book, but also for understanding other Biblical books. The book of Ruth simply reports the events in an impartial fashion, leaving any praise or condemnation to be done by the reader.

It is good to go through the book to get the surface meaning or basic story. Then we can go back through the book to discover there is another meaning underlining the storyline. In particular, the redemption of man by God is found.

SPIRITUAL GIFTS
Spiritual Gifts in the Word of God SPIRITUAL GIFTS — Sunday Mornings
Spiritual gifts are “grace gifts” given by the Holy Spirit and granted to every believer to minister to the body of Christ, the church. God uses these gifts to communicate His grace in many ways. They always bring glory to God (1Pe.4:11). God does not want believers to be uninformed concerning spiritual gifts (1Co.12:1). If we are unaware of our gifts, we will not build up one another. Thus, the church will be weak in accomplishing its purpose. Spiritual gifts strengthen faith in others (Rm.1:11-12). In other words, gifts are given to be given out for the benefit of others to keep the faith. They are activated from faith in us and aims for faith in another. God gives spiritual gifts that have little to do with natural abilities, in part to highlight that power in ministry comes from God, not from our talents. Human talents are inadequate to do the work of God.

GOSPEL OF JOHN
Gospel of John  GOSPEL OF JOHN — Sunday Mornings
This is a verse-by verse study of the Gospel of John. The Gospel of John uses the simplest Greek vocabulary, but teaches the most profound truths. These truths call for a clean heart (confess your sins), a prayerful attitude (seeking to really know God, not just about Him), and a continual dependence on the Holy Spirit (to teach you spiritual truths). There is more theology in the Gospel of John then there is in any other Gospel.
The gospel of John focuses on the content of what to believe. The epistles tell how, what, and why salvation occurred. Virtually all heresies, down through history to the present, deny either the full deity or the true humanity of Jesus Christ.

BIBLE PROPHECY
Bible Prophecy Some ask “Why study Bible prophecy”. Nearly one-third of the Bible is prophetic in one form or another. So to study the whole counsel of God's Word, and to avoid 31% of the Bible would be a shame. Plus, the focus of prophecy is Jesus Christ. So to study prophecy is to learn about Jesus Christ. Prophecy motivates believers to live holy lives while demonstrating the Word of God as coming from God. Also, in a world that continues to become more unsettling, Bible prophecy provides hope for the future of believers. Bible prophecy energizes believers to evangelize a lost and dying world.

TEMPTATION, TRIALS, AND SIN
TEMPTATION, TRIALS, AND SIN — Wednesday Evenings
This is a topical study on Temptation, trials, and sin. The basic meaning of “temptation” (peirasmos) means to test or prove. There is no negative connotation behind the word. Whether it becomes a proof of righteousness or an inducement to evil depends on our response. If we resist it in God's power, it is a test that proves our faithfulness. However, if we do not resist it, it become a solicitation to sin. The Bible uses the word both ways. Concerning what is tested, a temptation will usually attack a weak spot, but trials test our strength, and expose any weaknesses we are unaware of. We could say God entrusts us in a test allowing us to make the right choice. When successful we are “promoted” to greater, and more difficult tests.
God never temps us to do evil (Jm.1:13). “Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man” (James 1:13). The key distinction between the two types of temptation is seen with the phrase, “with evil”. A temptation becomes an inducement to evil only when a person “is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed. Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin” (James 1:14–15). They are often used interchangeably. Temptation is a trial (of faith), and every trial is a temptation (to grumble).
